Community Event Funding Announced for 2027

Tacoma Venues & Events reinvests revenue to support free community events

The City of Tacoma’s Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC) has approved $90,000 in funding to support 26 organizations in producing public-benefiting community events. Awarded applicants will receive $2,500 to $5,000 to help cover direct costs, including traffic control, performers, marketing, and other essential expenses.

To make this possible, Tacoma Venues & Events (TVE) sets aside a portion of revenue generated at the Tacoma Dome and the Greater Tacoma Convention Center each year to reinvest back into the community through its Special Events Funding program.

CERC awards funding through a competitive, panel-reviewed process. Applications are measured on merit and community impact as well as how the event fosters access and belonging.

“We are thrilled and honored to support these 26 organizations,” said CERC Chair Jacob Tice. “It's incredibly important to our committee to help increase access to these wonderful community events. They help celebrate culture, strengthen connections, and create meaningful experiences for everyone in Tacoma. Through their events, this dynamic group of organizers is helping to shine a light on the world-class creativity and liveliness of our city, and the rich cultural tapestries that make up our neighborhoods. We’re beyond excited to see them grow and thrive.”

This funding helps to ensure public access to enriching community events and festivals that reflect Tacoma’s unique identity and cultures. These diverse events help to strengthen neighborhood connections and vitality and ensure Tacoma remains a welcoming place to gather and celebrate.

  • Chinese Reconciliation Project Foundation: Walk for Reconciliation Against Racism

  • Daffodil Festival Inc.: Daffodil Festival Grand Floral Parade

CERC will also soon evaluate events for designation of non-monetary support through the City Event Services program, which provides access to services that improve crowd control, public safety, and essential event operations from Tacoma Police Department, Tacoma Fire Department, and the City of Tacoma’s Public Works and Environmental Services departments.
