master plan
Strong Foundations, Intentional Planning.
overview 2026-2027
TVE is dedicated to ensuring Tacoma’s venues serve our community, strengthen our economy, and reflect the city’s goals and values. As part of that, TVE has launched a master planning process to guide the longterm future of the Tacoma Dome, Cheney Stadium, and Tacoma City Theaters.
These iconic venues are important public assets that support community vitality, entertainment, arts and culture, tourism, and economic activity. The health, longevity, and success of these venues is a cornerstone to the communities they serve.
Project Phases
The first step is a two-phase Market and Feasibility Study to inform the long-term future of the facilities. Phase One will assess market opportunities and trends; identify strategic improvements, including potential renovations; evaluate lost revenue due to outdated spaces and what’s needed to retain and grow business; and measure how venues are meeting the expectations of modern customers. Building on Phase One, Phase Two will use that information to create potential visions for the next generation of each venue.
Decision Process
No decisions have been made about renovations, new facilities, funding plans, or construction timelines. We’re in the information-gathering stage to see what’s needed, what’s possible, and how these public assets can best serve our community, now and into the future.
Community and Stakeholder Feedback
Community and stakeholder feedback will be important in every phase of this project. TVE plans to include a range of voices, including venue users, event partners, arts and cultural organizations, community stakeholders, elected officials, and the general public.
