City’s Events and Recognitions Committee Announces 2025 City of Destiny Award Winners
Tacoma City Council and the City’s Events and Recognitions Committee (CERC) will recognize Tacoma’s top volunteers and service providers during the 39th Annual City of Destiny Awards. The ceremony is planned for Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 7 PM, at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall, 2727 East D Street.
Guests are invited to come early for the Community Showcase, featuring the nominees’ connected organizations as well as a reception with complimentary refreshments beginning at 5 PM. Disability Advocate: Parker Ayers – Rainier Adaptive Sports
Economic Development: Jason Gauthier – Tacoma Farmers Market
Environmental Sustainability: Craig Bergstrom – Volunteer for Parks Tacoma
Equity & Empowerment: Alicia Klein – Leaders in Women’s Health
Group - Equity and Empowerment: South End Neighborhood Council
Lifetime Service: Jim and Jill Weatherford – Fort Nisqually
Youth Leadership: Nateli Sanderson – Student and Author
Youth Service: Nichollette Roe – Tacoma Children’s Business Fair
The City Council-appointed CERC oversees the nomination and awards process for the City of Destiny Awards. More than 330 individuals and groups have received recognition for their outstanding contributions to improving life in Tacoma since the awards’ inception in 1987.
