Tacoma Dome Welcomes Class of 2023

More than 100,000 people are expected to attend graduations during 27 ceremonies held at the Tacoma Dome this year.

As the class of 2023 crosses the stage and receives their diplomas, thousands of friends and family members will visit the Dome District and surrounding areas. Community members and area businesses are preparing for increased traffic in the Dome District and downtown as graduates and guests attend ceremonies, out of town visitors stay at hotels, and celebrate at local restaurants.

“The Tacoma Venues & Events team is honored to welcome the class of 2023 and their visitors to Tacoma as we continue the legacy of playing host to this important milestone in so many lives,” said Adam Cook, TVE Director. “It is a joy to celebrate these graduates’ accomplishments, and we are proud to serve as our community’s gathering place for another generation’s iconic Tacoma Dome stories. Congratulations to all!”

The Tacoma Dome, currently celebrating its 40-year anniversary, has hosted more than 31 million people at thousands of events. A documentary of the Dome’s history to present day is in production and community members interested in sharing their Tacoma Dome story can submit it here. A screening of the documentary will take place at the Dome in August 2023.

In 2022 at 23 graduations, over 7,800 graduates were awarded their diplomas on the Tacoma Dome stage with more than 64,000 people in attendance. Graduations in Tacoma last year created an estimated $860,000 in economic impact.

Graduates and guests are encouraged to visit the Tacoma Dome’s website for specific event information, including clear bag policy as well as recommended driving directions to the Tacoma Dome, to plan ahead to not miss a moment.
