Tacoma’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Awards Nominations Are Now Open
The City of Tacoma’s Events & Recognitions Committee (CERC) is now accepting nominations for the Lifetime Service Award and the Emerging Leader Award for individuals or groups to be honored for their community service at the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Nov. 8, 2021.

Celebrate 20 Years of Tacoma Arts Month this October
October 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of Tacoma Arts Month – 31 days dedicated to celebrating the arts in our community. The month is full of virtual and in-person arts and culture programs with something for everyone to enjoy: music, dance and theater performances; visual art exhibits; literary readings; lectures; workshops; film screenings and cultural events.

Application for 2022 Community Arts Projects Funding Now Available
The City of Tacoma is now accepting Community Arts Projects funding applications from eligible organizations and groups producing publicly accessible arts programming, across all artistic disciplines, within Tacoma city limits in 2022. Applicants can apply for either $3,000 or $6,000 for their project. Applications must be submitted online by 11:59 PM on November 1, 2021.

Partnership aligns with department mission of providing welcoming spaces for all
Tacoma Venues & Events announced a partnership with KultureCity to make the Tacoma Dome, the Greater Tacoma Convention Center and the events held at the venues sensory inclusive. This new initiative will promote an accommodating and positive experience for all guests and fans in alignment with the department’s mission and values to provide inclusive and welcoming spaces.
