Tacoma Venues & Events Issues Call to Artists for Tacoma Dome Public Art Installation
Application Deadline is July 24, 2025 at 5 PM
Tacoma Venues & Events (TVE) invites artists to apply for a new public art opportunity at the iconic Tacoma Dome. In partnership with the City of Tacoma’s Arts and Cultural Vitality division and in consultation with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, TVE is seeking an artist to design and install artwork that honors and amplifies the cultural presence, stories, and Lushootseed language of the Puyallup Tribe.
With a total budget of $75,000, this project will activate the Tacoma Dome’s lower Northwest Plaza and/or the surrounding perimeter. The goal is to create highly visible, impactful artwork that serves as a welcoming landmark for hundreds of thousands of guests who visit the Tacoma Dome each year. Potential media include murals, carved cedar, metalwork, and other durable materials suitable for high-traffic outdoor environments.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and cannot be employees of the City of Tacoma or members of the Tacoma Arts Commission or City’s Events and Recognitions Committee. Selected artists will be expected to participate in project-related public relations and events, such as ribbon cuttings and photo opportunities.
Submissions are due by 5 PM PT on July 24, 2025. Finalists will be selected at the end of August 2025, with project installation anticipated by June 2026.
